Holy Island marriage 1812 - Thomas Morris and Ann Allan
« on: Monday 25 April 22 17:37 BST (UK) »
Hi does anyone please have access to the marriages for Holy Island?

I would like to please know who the witnesses are (and any other information) on the marriage of Thomas Morris and Ann Allan.

They married on 12 June 1812.

There is a photo of one of their daughters and some information about Thomas Morris and his family here: https://www.islandshirearchives.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Fishing-Heritage-Katrina-compressed.pdf

My ancestor James Stephenson worked with Thomas Morris on Holy Island from c1812-c1817 in the prevention service and I would like to know if James was a witness to the marriage.

Thank you,
Jon

Hi I looked at the BTs for Holy Island, plus Free Reg and can't see this marriage.
Please could you tell me the source you have for the marriage so we have a starting point to investigate?

Yes that is the one! Thank you.

Looks like it was on 14th June 1812, not 12th though.

I can't find pre-1813 information anywhere for Holy Island.

If anyone can help that would be good.

Jon

looks like that may be the source, thanks Jennifer, though it didn't come up in a search of either the BTs or the main original Holy Island Registers on FS

The document reference is film 94996, which is in the catalogue as
https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/157302?availability=Family%20History%20Library
It says its a transcript
As the notes only mention marriages to 1755 in that blurb I am at a loss as to how a marriage in 1812 would be included?

The Bishops transcripts can be viewed here https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-68J9-ZKF?cc=1309819&cat=1820857 (not searchable, you must browse each page in turn)

As Boo has said, there is no sign of the marriage you mention.
