daughter Isabella who married Michael Shadforth gave her children unusual middle names

Matilda Montigue 1841
Robert Thwaites 1843
John Dryden 1845

So we know where she got Dryden from but what about Thwaites and Montigue?

Regarding the will of William Dryden 1817

He also had a son William, mentioned first after wife Isabella so possibly the eldest

Witnesses Andrew Shield, Joseph Borthwick and William Hall

Son Stephen marries a Margaret Shield !

Do you have these

Newcastle Courant 24 April 1840
At St Hilda's Church on the 20th instant Mr. J Appleby, painter,  to Miss Matilda Dryden

Same in Durham County Advertiser on the 24th April except they put on Monday last Mr. Jonathan Appleby. etc.

Newcastle Journal 25th April 1840 - On 20th instant Mr. Jonathan Appleby, painter, to Miss Matilda Dryden

I have found with parts of my tree that Alice and Alison are interchangeable. Some records have one and others have the other but are the same person.
