1939 cencus there is a Stanley Toomer living with them Doris brother maybe?

Yes they appear to be siblings same mmn

TOOMER, Doris Mabel  mmn EVANS
1901  S Quarter in BEDWELLTY  Volume 11A  Page 87

TOOMER    Stanley   mmn  EVANS
Dec 1912   Bedwellty    11a   137

Possibly marriage entry for parents

Dec 1891
Cook    Mary Ann                 Bedwelty    11a   184
Evans    Mary Jane        Bedwelty    11a   184
Fox    Job                         Bedwelty    11a   184
Toomer    Joseph        Bedwelty    11a   184

I really thought I had cracked it but in 1901& 1911 cencus , Willie p is with the Downes family,
I too wondered about the William Henry bit,but on the marriage index it does state William P Phillips to Doris M Toomer

The adjustment made on 1939 register adding the name Henry dated 1955 code LL  :-\
If you think it’s the correct person perhaps obtaining the death and/or marriage certificates to see if it reveals anything useful.

Using FreeBMD it looks as if William and Doris had quite a number of children

edit - Year 1934 Electoral Register Don Valley William doesn’t have a middle name

William PHILLIPS
Doris Mabel PHILLIPS
Stanley TOOMER

the Years 1935/36/38/39 his name entered William Phillip PHILLIPS
West Yorkshire, England, Electoral Registers, 1840-1962

I found this entry on a tree. Not quite the same:-

William H Phillips (husband of Doris Toomer)
1896–1979
BIRTH 16.12.1896 • Monmouthshire, Wales, United Kingdom
DEATH 11.07.1979 • Skegness, Lincolnshire, England, United Kingdom

Perhaps Mudmonster could contact the tree owner to see if they have the marriage certificate as it gives the date 27.3.1920 place Abertillery Blaenan Gwent Church - no mention of father's names for either

edit - they only mention one child born to William & Doris her birth entry Mar 1924 Pontypool (mn Toomer), she married Mar 1943 Lincoln she must be one of the 3 persons officially closed on 1939 register

added - DCB I see you have amended your post details (reply 28) to add further info. from the public tree

I checked the tree again and it shows his parents as Samuel Phillips (1864-1928) and Sarah Davies (1868-1895). There was a William Haydn Phillips with that mmn but Q2 1897 in Merthyr Tydfil.
Also a William Henry in Q4 1895 mmn Davies but he seems to have lived with his father.

The owner of the tree is a descendant of William but has not logged on for over a year.

I have found his birth registration but he is probably still living and so can't post his details.

Well found DCB - I think two separate public trees one owner RH & the other NH both have same surname

add - If that is the correct William Phillips that might explain why he was adopted as his mother died 1895  ??? There's no census details for father Samuel

thanks for all the replies concerning Willie P,  I am pretty sure it is the one from Lincolnshire /other records seem to  add up  to what we were told  about him /I didn't want to post about his child as I was not sure if she was still living and we only had the smallest of hints to go on .I had never searched for William P  Phillips only for  William P Downes,
On the 1939 cencus I see the Henry has been added in green and the birth changed to 96 would this be done at a later date and if so ,by whom?
I think Mary jane Evans is the mother for Doris M Toomer and she dies in Lincoln in 1950.
Thanks once again

If William's father was Samuel and Sarah nee Davies William appears to be with his widowed father on the 1901 & 1911 censuses have posted details on the thread  ???

Have you looked at the names for all the other children born to William & Doris nee Toomer?
