Trail gone cold
« on: Monday 02 May 22 22:56 BST (UK) »
I'm looking to dig further into my great, great Grandmother. I know she had an 'illegitimate' daughter in 1904 and that she later had her adopted. I don't have a year of birth for the mother but I know her name was Florence Atward as that is what it said on the 1904 birth certificate? Any help to dig deeper on a trail gone cold? TIA

Just in case the surname Atward should be Atwood I have found the following on Freebmd site.

Florence A Atwood born Q4 1884 Pancras Vol 1b Page 63
Florence Rose Atwood born Q2 1904 Pancras Vol 1b Page 138

Marriage Q4 Camberwell 1914 Vol 1d Page 1670
Florence A Atwood and John H.A. Panning.

Florence Rose has mmn Brown, so not illegitimate.
Florence A (1884) might be a possibility for the mother.
It would be useful if OP could give more information on where daughter was born and what her name actually was.

Constance died 1994. Birth date given as 23 Nov 1904.

Could just get registered Q1 1905 if within the first week and stay within the 48 42 days, but doesn't match the birth date given on the Dewsbury baptism. But it was a transcript, the date of 23rd is right. The month of baptism could have been muddled with month of birth.

added
corrected 48 days to 42
