I have another illegitimate Great Grandmother that I may need help with in the future too 😊

If you have her birth cert, follow-up on the address(es) indicated for any clues. Search the address(es) in census records, and also newspaper reports applicable to the birth timeline.

Also, if you do reach out to Croydon Council (re Constance) let us know how you get on.
If they do have an adoption file for Constance it may contain details about her parents.

The Conquests had an adopted son of their own (which I find kind of interesting!)
William Shelley/Shelly, born 27 Jan 1887, according to his school record.
Described as visitor in 1891, son in 1901, adopted son in 1911.

Couple of school records for Florence Attwood, daughter of Thomas, of 203 Gloucester Road. They are not very informative.

Florence Amelia's marriage to to Amos Dudley Brizelden in 1913 is online (her address still 203 Gloucester Road!)
She has done a very nice signature as Attwood.

Emily - what is the birth address on the birth certificate? And is there another address for the mother (Florence)? Is there an occupation listed for her?

The address on the certificate is 8 Kemble Road, Waddon. Florence is listed as a domestic servant.

Florence is the informant? Did she sign as Atward, or mark?
