Need Emily to come back & tell us the dates & place from the 1904 birth cert as maggsie asked for.

Cannot find the Atward birth in 1905, Croydon, on the GRO.

Thanks so much for the responses.
My Great Grandmother was Constance Florence Atward as a few of you have noted and she was born 23rd November 1904. Her mother is named as Florence Atward on the birth certificate and it's Florence I'm trying to dig further on. I know Constance Florence had been adopted by the age of 6 so they won't be listed together any census' after this. Thanks again😊

Emily - what is the birth address on the birth certificate? And is there another address for the mother (Florence)? Is there an occupation listed for her?
Note: Addresses on BMD certificates usually offer clues when searching for someone.

Am I missing something here. If she was born Constance Atward & was adopted; why is her marriage in the name Atward?

No records of a Florence Atward anywhere in England. There was a Florence Atwood in Croydon, who would have been about 15 when Constance was born.

The address on the certificate is 8 Kemble Road, Waddon. Florence is listed as a domestic servant.

That's a point Kloumann, maybe she wasn't formally adopted but just taken in by a family?

Yes Ladyhawk, that is the document I found
