If you obtained the actual marriage registration you would have his father's occupation.
What was Patrick's?
Also, do more modern English death registrations now include mother's name?
Mother's name would help immensely.

I can't help but wonder if the name is really Geoghan??

Do the witness names help?
There are a couple of Gaughan marriages in Bradford around the same time.

I would favour County Mayo roots, where the Gaughan name is found, especially in the Belmullet  area and also because St Muiredach is a local saint - the cathedral in Ballina is St Muiredach’s.

However, people travel so my theory might not be that strong.
