Edward Bornick Smith

I have Edward  born 1817 in Sculcoates. Father William b 1791 and mother Margaret b1793. I believe she may have been born in Stockton, but I have no idea who her parents were, although my contact for this info suggested perhaps Edward Bornick-Elizabeth Habersham (Hull).
Unfortunately my contact has died and I now have no other way of trying to verify his suggested links.
Can anyone please help

Common sense suggests that if your friend came up with this theory,  then there should be some evidence on which this theory was based.

Freereg, familysearch.org  etc, subscription sites?

Baptism record has also been transcribed as Edward Borwick Smith, so consider searching for that surname too

How do you know that Margaret was born in 1793, and William born in 1791?
Have you found them in the census? Where and when?

I now have a more complete picture, thanks to all for your input; the closest I have yet to get to a final, definitive solution.

One of the difficulties for the transcribers of old records is getting the names absolutly correct.. But as we all well know there will always be a mistranscription somewhere.

This has been the case for BORNICK. shown variously as BORNICK, BONNICK, BORWICK and BENNICK.

In my friend's notes he had  Edward Bornick m Elizabeth Habersham. I eventually traced this to Edward Bonnick and Elizabeth Habersham married at Beverley Yorks in 1766. They had 2 children Caroline and John. Caroline married a Wiliam Smith in Hull March 1789 and subsequently had a son William b 1791.
With regard to William's wife Margaret I can only find one potential link to Margaret Davis (Davies) in Stockton.

The interesting facets of these links is the traditional carrying forward on family names. Edward Bornick Smith , who named one of his sons Davis and Caroline, grand daughter of William Smith (his mother's name)
