Family on my tree but cannot find the link
« on: Friday 13 May 22 15:43 BST (UK) »
Please can you help.   I have a family on my tree who I can find on tree search but cannot find the link to any family on my tree.  I Know I would not have them unless they were my ancestors.

Is there a way on Ancestry to find out who they belong to without researching all my maternal family.

   Thank You

    Suzanne

Sorry for this, I must be a bit thick.  Are you saying that you have NOT created your own tree from your own research?

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Yes, BumbleB I do have a very large tree.  Oh goodness this is very hard to explain.

I found a DNA match on Ancestry that matched a family, the Goulds, I knew I had them on my tree, BUT I cannot find them.  If I bring up my tree and click on an ancestor, beside my tree name, upper left hand side,  is the icon for a tree search. I have clicked on that and found the Goulds, but I cannot remember who they are affiliated with.
So I am asking if anybody here can help to speed up the link from the search to a line on my tree instead of me having to try to research my whole tree to find them.

     Hope that is clearer

Apologies - I didn't realise that DNA was involved.  :-X :-X

When you open tree search there is an icon to your list of names.
Go to the most recent direct Gould & start from there.

On Ancestry it usually gives the relationship to the start person. Starting with one of the Goulds can you track it back by finding the closer relationships.

(ie Brother of Husband of Aunt -- find the Husband of Aunt and then Aunt etc)
Terry, Greenway, Hudson, Conway, Simmonds, Childs, Oram, Dee, Bennett, Smith, Sturge, Bolas, Gibbons

Thank Tellix,   Just tried it but no suggestions to relationship.  Looks like I will have to research  the family by the long route.

They must be linked to my ancestors or I would have given them a tree of their own to research at a future date.

Looks like a long weekend ;D

    Thanks again
