Samuel Done pre 1825 Middle,Shropshire
« on: Friday 20 May 22 03:59 BST (UK) »
Hi all
I would like to find out more about Samuel Done, a convict born in about 1804 in Middle/Myddle, Shropshire. He was given death at Summer Assizes 1824 for stealing a cow, a horse and a book?, commuted to life transportation. Came to Sydney per Royal Charlotte in 1825.
I don’t know anything about his family or life before said crime.
This tall much freckled red head who could plough and make butter went on to make a good life here in Maitland NSW.
Many thanks
Sue

Hi Kay
All clues a help 😄
All I know is he was 21 when charged on 11Aug 1824.
When he was pardoned in 1841, he and young Irish wife had 13 kids.
First four born seem to be Done family names - John, Mary, Samuel James,         Henry William. or a mix
His wife was Bridget, pars James and Margaret Thompson.
Next four children were - James Thompson, William Thompson, Bridget Lavinia and Margaret Amelia.
That’s all I have to go on
There is a line John Done m Sarah Ferrington in 1766 in Myddle
Their 14 children are all born in Myddle and seem to stay in Myddle mostly.
Thanks Sue
