Thanks so much all - this is very exciting and more than I had hoped for :-)
I wonder if I can find out where the ship sank?

The 1861 reference to Margaret seems to match the age of poor John who was lost with his father?

I am getting a bit confused re Jenkin's parents as now his year of birth has been corrected to 1825 I can see the possibility of John and Sarah and also David and Mary.  Your superior research skills much appreciated

The only Jenkin Williams marriage in Cardigan with Margaret on the same page is this one & she was Margaret Owens

March qtr 1849 Aberayron   27 7

If Margaret pre-deceased Jenkin & David was only born October 1861 - they cannot be together in 1861 so where did you get her details from?  Where is David in 1871?

This Margaret's father was John Owens, a labourer.

Jenkin's father was John Williams, a farmer.

Jenkin is listed as a mariner. Both he and Margaret were of full age and both were single on the marriage cert.

And more info on the post that follows this quote.

This may, or may not, help but - in the Masters and Mates Certificates register (in Ancestry) there is a/the Jenkin Williams whose DoB is 27 October 1825.
