Update re the dreaded 404.

Last week I had issues, and got the above. As it was probably the third time, I have walked away from attempting to order on line, a document viewing, not for myself, but for a fellow member unable to visit the holding archive, I decided to phone them.

A CASE IF ALL ELSE FAILS, try phoning the holding archive.

I was lucky enough to make contact with a lady who recognised my voice. She said that morning they were again having web problems. She checked that my registered details were still current, and advised that the file I wanted to see, would be awaiting my visit at reception, any morning for the next five business days.  And so it was.

She was even able to provide me access to the old records that the branch held, re my previous 160 requests since March 2018. There being a couple of request items, of interest, in my TO DO notebook, and I had not crossed them off as done. I felt that an Auckland COVID restriction had stopped a planned visit.

So top marks to the Auckland branch of Archives NZ, for looking after us.
