On FreeBMD the only death I can see is in the registration district Birkenhead Cheshire Sept 1/4 Joseph O'Rourke age 48.

There is another Joseph O'Rourke died age 50 in Liverpool S. Dec 1/4 registration so can be a little confusing.

There was a Joseph O'Rourke birth Mar.qtr.1897 West Derby who was a Ships Cook which would fit with known details.

1901/1911 census' confirm born in Liverpool, son of John Joseph O'Rourke (was also a Ships Cook) and Mary Ann Kane who were married 1880.  He had a large number of brothers/sisters.

Address on burial register: 56 Church Road, Birkenhead - that was Birkenhead Hospital where he died.

The merchant navy death record lists a wife Emma*, 16 Molineux/Molyneaux Drive, New Brighton, Wallasey. Later address (1954) 31 Mortimer Road, South Shields.

* Emma Elena Beer. Married 1930 per public trees. Died 1954.

I don’t see a reference to North Shields and it looks as though there were no children to the couple.

Thanks very much. No children from the marriage. Looks as if it means exploring the O'Rouke siblings.
