A date would be helpful.

Hi Angel7025,

The 25th Regiment of Foot was an earlier name of the King's Own Scottish Borderers, they were barracked in Berwick Upon Tweed. So he could have been Scottish or English, Old Parish Records were not too informative.. I noticed their marriage was 24th December, 1781.

Ireland - Tracey, Conroy, Pat(t)erson.

Have you got his military service record? That might say where he was born.

Those have to be two different Henry Phil(l)ip(s).

If he was married in 1781, he must have been born much earlier than 1772. He wouldn't even have been able to join the army at the age of 9.

And if he was buried in 1850 he can't be the one in the 1861 census.

What were the names of his children, in order of birth? Have you found him in the 1841 census?

BTW the Christian in the 1861 census was Henry's daughter, aged 44. Whatever transcription you got that from evidently failed to include all the information in the original document.

Don't confuse the parish/town of Haddington with the county of Haddington aka Haddingtonshire aka East Lothian. Spott is a parish in the county of East Lothian. See https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/sct/ELN
