Unfortunately his service records have not survived (most were destroyed by enemy action in WW2).

From the SWB roll: Enlisted 30-9-16, discharged 24-12-18 from 3rd Battalion, age 20

From the WW1 medal roll: He had previously served in 18th and 14th Battalions.

FindMyPast has a medical record showing that he was treated at No 3 Casualty Clearing Station on 5 November 1918 for a wound classified as "GSW VIII I" which was  "Gunshot wounds of the upper extremities" "Simple flesh contusions and wounds".  He was then serving with 14th.

The war diary of 14th Welsh will tell you what was happening on that day.

Fold 3 has WW1 pension index cards for him which may contain more information.

If the man in the photo is who you believe it to be then
his record will be at the MOD as this is post war, possibly 1930's.
He looks to be wearing the BW & V medal ribbons.
His record can be applied for. It will cost £30 + a long wait.
Your man would have been in the 1st. Btn. Glam. Yeo. as the other 2 Btn's
didn't serve overseas.
This is what the LLT says:
1/1st

August 1914 : headquarters and “B” Squadron in Bridgend; “A” Squadron at Swansea; “C” at Cardiff; “D” at Pontypridd. Under command of the South Wales Mounted Brigade. Moved to Hereford on mobilisation, then to Thetford where Brigade came under orders of 1st Mounted Division.
November 1915 : dismounted.
March 1916 : moved to Egypt and formed 4th Dismounted Brigade with the Welsh Border Mounted Brigade.
2 February 1917 : merged with 1/1st Pembroke Yeomanry to form the 24th (Pembroke & Glamorgan Yeomanry) Bn, the Welsh Regiment and came under orders of 231st Brigade in 74th (Yeomanry ) Division. Moved to France in May 1918.

Thank you Shaun and Jim for your help and information, it gives me a bit more to go on, i have found paperwork for Fred's admittance to hospital in Suivereux?? and his discharge certificate from the army in 1918, so going off Jim's info it looks like Fred saw about 6 months of action in France at the end of the Great War?
