Rebecca Kinsey
« on: Tuesday 31 May 22 17:23 BST (UK) »
I am looking for any information on Rebecca Kinsey, born about 1770-1775. She married Thomas Spencer on 3 Jul 1796 at St John the Evangelist, Langley, Essex, England. I have not located any birth or christenings in Essex gor Rebecca but found 2 baptisms in Ickleton, Cambridgeshire. One was in 1771 to Sarah Kinsey & one was in 1773 to Thomas Kinsey & Elizabeth Stickwood. Thomas & Rebecca's marriage info that I have found so far does not give any details of eithers parents. I don't know if she was born in Cambridgeshire or Essex. Thomas & rebecca went on to have at least 8 children- all were born in Hertfordshire. She died in Hertfordshire.
Any help would be gratefully recieved
Thank you
Carole

Possible marriage of one of them in Little Abington in 1799 to Thomas Stalley and maybe the other in Pampisford in 1800 to John Atkinson

Thank you so much for looking

Hi
There is a Thomas Kensey mentioned in a Will 1774 at Elmdon. The Will is for J Hoy
Son Edward bapt there 17.12.1769 to Thomas and Sarah.
Also John ,James ,Joseph ,Mary ,William and Emma

possible sister Elizabeth marrying John Wright at Langley 1790.
There is a possible burial for her 27.3.1842 at Barkway Herts age 73 so born 1769.
And a Sara Kenzey 1777 to a William Dixon at Langley
John Kemsey s of William and Sarah bapt at Langley 17.3.1765 .

There does seem to be a Kenzey/Kinsey  family at Langley

1841 census has them living at Barkway, Thomas born in the County - Rebecca not born in the county.  Her age was 69.
Age at death in Sept qtr 1845 was 74

i have found a Rebecca Kinsey, daughter of Mary, baptised 31March 1771 in Ickleton, Cambs. Also a thomas Kinsey, wife Elizabeth with children Thomas & Thomasin baptised 177 in Ickleton. Ickleton seems to be not too far from Elmdon, Langley& Barkway so this may be a promising lead?
Thank you for your assistance

The baptism on 31st March 1771 at Ickleton is the one you mentioned in your first post, mother Sarah not Mary.

Possible marriage of one of them in Little Abington in 1799 to Thomas Stalley and maybe the other in Pampisford in 1800 to John Atkinson

Rebecca Stalley died in 1841 age 69 which would tie in with one of the Ickleton baptisms.

ADDED It would appear that there was a licence for her marriage
Archive Cambridge University Library
Marriage licence date 12 Dec 1799

Thank you. Have been looking at Kinsey/Kinzey/Kensey in Essex/ Cambs & barkway. all 3 seem closely linked. I have found a few more refrences to Langley so am back to thinking that she is from there but information on Langley seems very limited. the name Rebecca features strongly in the Essex & cambs families i have found.I am wondering if the Langley records have just not been digitilised. I really appreciate your help.
