S H Hunt 2Bn KRRC 6244
« on: Sunday 05 June 22 14:22 BST (UK) »
Afternoon everyone from a very place
Could anyone advise me please
My Grandfather Samuel Henry Hunt DoB 1887
Died in WW1 14/9/1914
He died of his wounds
My question is would he have been injured and found and buried with his comrades
or would there have been nothing to bury
He has a memorial but cannot find a grave  searched CWGC only memorial
any advise greatly received
The thought there was a body and he was treated is bugging me

Thank you

He is on the Medal Roll Index & was awarded the British/Victory/14star (I think with clasp)

I am posting the link from www.cwgc.org for information only

Thank you Carole
I am trying to get my head around it  that there was no body to bury I suppose
Of all the men that died that day what would they have done with the bodies if there were any
I thought he may have been wounded treated and then died
Thank you again

They knew he died of wounds so there would have been a body which would have been buried. Possibly CWGC were unable to locate his remains after the war. He died at Troyon per his army papers.

I think he would have been injured, treated and died.
It says died of wounds on his pension record. So there will have been a  body somewhere. I would think.
Had  it been otherwise it would have said" no known grave."..as husband,s grandfather's record  said.
He died 1917.in
On Samuel,s pension record it also says troyen? Whatever this means.

You need his full service record....supposedly on ancestry...
But it  isn't.
Or  on FindMyPast...but I have no sub to FindMyPast
Ps just seen Carols reply but will leave this here.

Hi Thank you Lola
This was my thoughts as well
Troyon was the place of the battle in France near Laon
I also think the same as you but where
I have messaged on Forum that deals with KRRC ww1 but as yet nothing
There is a CWGC near there but no name of Hunt buried
Was the red cross field hospital attending wounded during this time ??

His Service Record is on Ancestry.  He only married 11.4.1914 & his daughter was b 19.7.14 - I wonder if he got to see her before he died

Here's the link - I am pasting the full link as I have tried to use the shrink link but keep getting a  link that takes me to Facebook or Ask about Ireland??   RC link below

Well done Carole,
Why couldn't I find it...searched every which way. What is Ancestry playing at. Or is it me?
If you only knew  what a long time Broadway has been searching for this...years and years.
