John Groves, emigration June 18, 1822 on ship Robert Burns
« on: Tuesday 07 June 22 01:46 BST (UK) »
I have Johnston/Groves ancestry. John Groves was born abt 1802 in Ireland with father John, not sure of mother. The family emigrated to Ohio and I believe the parents along with John and his siblings came together. I have a note that John Groves probably emigrated June 18, 1822 on the ship Robert Burns. Does anyone know how I would find out more about the passengers on that ship? I don't know which port they first landed at, thinking New York. Hoping to see who all emigrated at that time to get knowledge of John's siblings.
Thanks for all your help

Thank you for this, Neale1961. So since this John Groves is by himself, it might not be the John Groves that I am looking for. I have some other family notes that say that John Groves emigrated at the age of 16 with his parents brothers and sisters. That would be 1818 but with only that much limited information, it would be very hard to find the family. Should be father John, siblings James, Catherine and Mary Ann. Mother’s name is uncertain, could be Elizabeth or Catherine.

Siblings James Groves 1801, Catherine 1804, Mary Ann 1812, possible William 1810-1813, father John unknown, maybe 1770. James says born May 3, 1801 Dromore, Donegal, Ireland but uncertain of this place.
