« on: Thursday 09 June 22 22:27 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out information on James Henderson, born 23/7/1869, Falla, Oxnam, he emigrated, unfortunately I don't have a date. His parents were George and Mary Henderson. His siblings were Mary born 1867 died 1934, Isabella born 1872, George born 1875, Alexander born 1881 died 1886 and David born 1887 died 1917 in France.

He's not with his family in 1891
Registration district  Melrose
Civil parish Melrose
County Roxburghshire
-------------
Have you found him in 1891 in the UK?

--------
I found 4 James Hendersons leaving the UK from 1889 to 1895.
He isn't the English laborer arriving Quebec 5 Oct 1895, headed to Chicago.

I don't think he is the Scottish carpenter arriving Quebec on 2 Jun 1891, age unreadable, headed to Quebec. His father was a farm laborer, not a carpenter. but this might be him. "Canmore" is written on his line on the manifest, but I don't know why.

He is probably not the 26 yr old farmer left from Glasgow, arrived Quebec 15 Jul 1895, headed to Winnipeg, Manitoba. see below for a man in Manitoba who said he arrived in 1895.

That leaves the James Henderson, 19 yr old laborer who left Liverpool and Londonderry, arrived Quebec 25 May 1889,  headed to Toronto. this man might have been traveling with George Moorhead, 23, and James Moorhead, 18.
This would line up with his not being with the family in 1891.

-------------
The 1901 Census of Canada asked for the exact date of birth. I haven't found him so far.
He is not the James Henderson in Gilbert Plains, Marquette, Manitoba in 1901, arrived 1895.
that man was born 2 Mar 1869.

this man's month and year of birth matches, but he didn't arrive in Canada until 1911, so not likely, unless you can find your James in 1891 and 1901 closer to home.

1911 Victoria, Alberta
James Henderson, born in Scotland, Jul 1869, Presbyterian, arrived in Canada in 1911 at the age of 41, farmer, single

---------------
summary so far: I'd look for the young man headed for Toronto listed in the last post. Were there Moorheads living near your James that he might have emigrated with?

That would eliminate the man who arrived in Quebec in 1889 headed for Toronto.
--------------
The 1901 Canadian census is searchable by exact date of birth at ancestry.com and I didn't find your James. The only man born in the 1st half of 1869 that showed up is the man in Manitoba who was born March 2 of that year.
----------
And he is not turning up on records when including his parents' names. A lot of US death records in the 20th century included them, if the informant knew what they were. I don't think any Canadian death records are on line. At least I've never seen one. Someone else would know for sure.

Lots of Canadian death records online but they are organized by Province who each have their own rules for release.  British Columbia has the most up to date, while Ontario's are available up until about 1945 (on both Ancestry and FamilySearch).  Of course, you'd have to know which province he died in.

I believe that the James Henderson described above, born 2 Mar 1869, is my great-grandfather. More details on his life can be found on FindaGrave and Ancestry:

Though not the James Henderson lyndsey86 is looking for, I share the links here in case anyone else -- like me -- lands here looking for my great-grandfather.
