Searching for my grandfather's service records
« on: Saturday 11 June 22 17:34 BST (UK) »
Hello, my grandfather was Reginald Cyril Hird. He was born in 1927 in Leyton, Essex. He joined the British army in 1944, when he has 17, and served in Burma for over a year before being stationed in India. He was a corporal in the military police during the handover of India. I would appreciate any help in locating his service records. I have attached a photograph of my grandfather below, I hope it proves to be of some use.
Thanks :)

Thanks for the reply. According to the government's official website, I'm unable to order a copy of his records online since he was in the British army. (''You cannot apply online if the person was in the British Army or Home Guard.'')

Can you show on which web page you read that?
I have successfully applied for numerous service records using the link ShaunJ provided.
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)
