"Girley School was built in 1846 by Richard Rothwell a local landlord. The school served the community well for over 120 years. When it closed in 1968 it became our community centre facilitating all the groups in the area."

There's at least one school photo on the site but there are probably locals there who could give you information about some of the teachers.

Thank you for the articles above.  A lot of very interesting items there.
Do you have any info on who the teachers were.  I heard there was a Miss T Smith from Kells . There was a Pat Crowley who was from Kerry and before that a Mrs Marmion.
I would like to know who was there before that.
Thanks

To give some sense of time period:

Newspaper snippet 1958 Drogheda Argus
Mrs J ‘Maranon’ , principal, retired after 31 years at Girley.

1964
Mrs Teresa Smith retired after 40 years service

There are a couple of other snippets but much earlier

That's very good..
So it's the years  Prior to Mrs Marmion.
So that would 1927 .   So any teachers before that time..
Thanks..
