He was Drunk & Disorderly and on suspicions of cutting Wm. Scott with
(then to page 2 sideways so not too clear) sundry articles, dated 13 Jan 1775.
It looks like he received 600 lashes but not clear.

For being Drunk & Disorderly and on suspicions of cutting Wm. Scott with his sword. Sentence 200 lashes, stopped at 10 on account of his former good behaviour.

Hello to you all and thank you so much for all your help it's been very enlightening including the drunk and disorderly.

I have been looking for a Stephen Holdsworth for my history who was confirmed as a clothier in Leeds prior to being recruited

The Stephen Holdsworth I was looking for was a clothier but in Dalkeith Scotland although I do think some more lies have been told here on a marriage certificate.

Jane/Jean Holdsworth (supposedly his daughter) I now think was his sister who wasn't born until 1775

Jane/Jean Holdsworth married a James Potter at Cannongate Scotland  1798 and he was allegedly in the Shropshire Militia although not found any records

They had a son Daniel Potter who married Helen Bolton and had 10 children.  One was baptised at St Pancras London although this family lived in Scotland.

I am sure that the Stephen Holdsworth is the correct one of my history.

It's like a web of intrigue and which way to go now not sure

Thanks again for all your comments

Eileen
