Clarkson Burials

I've tried to remember, unsuccessfully, where my grandparents:

Leonard Cyril CLARKSON (1904-1992); and
Beatrice Ivy CLARKSON - née TOLLADAY (1909-1991)

are buried and my cousin would like to see if the gravestones need any care.

My grandparents lived in the Weymouth area and I seem to remember them being buried in a rural church graveyard, but can't for the life of me remember where. I live about 730 miles away, so it isn't very easy to scour the churchyards in person!

I've tried searching on the usual sites including Findagrave and Billiongraves and DorsetOPC. I've tried the usual funeral and obituary sites too and can come up with nothing.

Does anybody have any suggestions about where else I can look to find out where they are buried? Any suggestions gratefully received!

I would find out their address when they passed away - have you either of the death certificates?

Then you can find out which was the church local to that address.  Assuming they were at the same house as the deaths are close together.

There is a probate entry for Leonard who died 5 Jan 1992.

Address given as 43 Brackendown Ave Preston Weymouth Dorset

so that's a starting point.

Thanks - I have their address in Preston, Weymouth, their death certificates and probate details. I've been working  my way through all the churches in the area (I don't think the churchyard was in Weymouth itself). I'll just have to widen the net and put in the time to go through all the church records I can find. Unfortunately, nothing seems to be indexed.

Probate entry for Beatrice died 29 Aug 1991 gives the same address.

Unless you know they are buried in a churchyard you need to consider the Municipal Cemetery.
