Swinnerton family
« on: Monday 20 June 22 18:53 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I have a Thomas and Ann Swinnerton, Thomas born 12 September 1762 Uffington Shropshire.

They had four know children,
Hannah born 1784 Market Drayton Shropshire.
Esther  born 1785 Market Drayton.
Enock born 1787 Market Drayton.
Edward born 1789 Market Drayton.

I cannot find anything else for this family, they seem to have disappeared.
Can anyone see them probably under a different name spelling?
I do know that they used the Independent Chapel at market Drayton for the children's christenings.

Thanks,
bswinno.

There is a long established Swinnerton Family Society who might be able to help you. See their website at http://swinnerton.one-name.net/ (The usual alternate spelling is Swynnerton.)

I will check location - but the only Hannah Swinnerton born then I can find says Birth - Rodington - i will see how far Rodington  is from Market Drayton
answer - 17 miles - would they go 17 miles to a bigger church ??
a shot in the dark I'm afraid - but you never know ?

ADDED Uffington to Rodington is 5 miles - I wonder if the children were baptised in ANNS family church - do you know where Ann was born ??

garstonite,

I am told that the four children where baptised at the Independent Chapel in Market Drayton.
Also I am informed that Thomas the father died in 1802 which will have made him 40 years of age.

So I assume then Ann his wife remarried as her children were still young.
So just maybe they took on he new husbands name.

Thanks,
bswinno.
