Conversely, when my gt-grandfather married in Ireland in 1870 his bride was stated to be a 'minor', but convincing evidence suggests she was in fact 24. It confused me for many years. Perhaps she looked younger ... 
... and now it has been suggested that there may have been a clerical
error, as the next entry in the register also says 'minor'.
