Dallow Bishops Frome
« on: Thursday 23 June 22 19:20 BST (UK) »
Hi I have read lots of "Dallow" posts of Hereford and Worcester but they aren't quite ringing bells with my Dallow. Charles Dallow, 1806-1850 Bishops Frome. He was married to Elizabeth who dies 1851, and 3 of the children die in 1847. only 2 remaining children John and Clara (My great grandmother) moved to live with Olive (Dallow) and Joseph Davies Beech Cottage Much Cowarne. I can't however find burials for Charles and Elizabeth and the 3 children, thinking as all died within 5 years they would all be together?? Does any of this ring a bell with anyone else researching the Dallow family?

Do you have Elizabeths maiden name and their Marriage?

As there is this Marriage;
30 Apr 1835, St Mary the Virgin, Bishops Frome
Elizabeth WILLIAMS
Charles DELAHAY

+ the Burial of ANN Delahay 28 Jul 1841 age 5

So if I have this right?

Birth Regs;

DALLAHAY, MARY mmn WILLIAMS
GRO Reference: 1838  M Quarter in BROMYARD UNION  Volume 26  Page 127

DALLA, THOMAS mmn WILLIAMS
GRO Reference: 1840  M Quarter in BROMYARD  Volume 26  Page 126

DALHAY, JOHN mmn   WILLIAMS
GRO Reference: 1842  J Quarter in BROMYARD  Volume 26  Page 152

Clara illeg?
DALLOW, CLARA       -
GRO Reference: 1846  S Quarter in MARTLEY  Volume 18  Page 426

Charles Dallow death reg 1850 is age 0 under 1 year on GRO;
March 1850
DELLOW Charles  Bhs Stortford 6 352

So not your Charles.

Clara only has Mothers name Eliza in her Bapt 1846 Worcs

So something a little strange here.

Does Clara name her Father on her 1880 M/C?

Trish :)

Sorry looks like that Family is a red herring as in 1851 we have;

Charles Delahay   54 (image of age is hard to read)
Elizabeth Delahay 36
Mary Delahay   13
Thos Delahay   11
John Delahay   9
James Delahay   5
John Williams   28 Brother

Sorry for the confusion :-[

I do not see any death registrations for Charles or Elizabeth.

Or a birth/death for Thomas age 1 in 1841?

Possible birth registrations for John in Herefordshire & Clara Worcestershire but as Bishops Frome
is near the border it may be them?

Hello
Death for Charls Delahaye Mar qtr 1866 age 66 Ledbury
Charles baptised Wacton as Dalahay 25.10.1802 s of John and Theodocia
Siblings John 26.3.1799 ,Ann 9.2.1801 ,William 24.6.1804,Theodotia 7.10.1805.
They married there 10.1.1799 John Dalahay  and Theodocia Jones
John Dallow buried 3.11.1816 Bishops Frome age 67

Clara born 1846 has a baptism at Martley
Clara d of Eliza Dallow  8.4.1846
John is also the s of Eliza Dallow baptism 30.1.1843 Holmer and then at Martley 11.6.1843
Other  daughters Emma 11.2.1849 and  Emily  2.12.1855 and George same date.

(The other John is Charles and Elizabeth at Bishops Frome 3.4.1842)

The younger Dellow/Delahaye children for Charles and Elizabeth after John 1842 are or seem to be
James Mar 1846 Bromyard  Williams
Emily Mar qtr 1852 Ledbury Williams
William Mar 1855 Ledbury  Williams

So it seems Eliza must be a relative of Charles b 1802 Wacton and Olive Dallow born 1814 Much Cowarne who on her 26.1.1841 marriage seems to give her father as James oliver
Joseph Davies s of Edward Bond
Olive d of James Oliver.
That's a transcript and it doesn't fit with Joseph bapt 23.5.1809 s of Thomas and Hannah so a mistake?Although there is a James Oliver born Wacton 1776.

1841 Clifton Village
Eliza Dally 14 servant N with Bryan Bromwich surgeon
1851 Little Martley Hill End
Eliza Dalloe servant 23 Worcestershire  with James Bennett farmer

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Charles

I found the wedding of Olive (daughter of James Oliver) and Joseph (father Edward Bond) found that strange both different surnames, seems a right mix!
Cider drinker, which site did you find the burial of John Dallow in 1816 Bishops Frome? tried bmd site and find a grave.
Have found the baptism on find my past 1n 1846, Mother listed as Eliza, no father listed

Clara Dallow married William Brookes on 15th July 1880 and they lived in Much Cowarne, can't see now why 100% sure her father was Charles as I start from the 1851 census when she was with her Aunt (must have got parents from somewhere!) might delete siblings etc and start from scratch again

Thanks for all that extra work Colin/ciderdrinker.

It was doing my head in as it apeared to me that Clara was not the child of Charles/Elizabeth but was getting confused!
