And a second record …..
WADE HENRY THOMAS

Hm, Yes I have seen some of those indexes and wondered if that's him & his parents... it's very hard to tell for sure. They are on my radar...

This Thomas Henry/Henry Thomas, could be the cousin mentioned in the Surry Hills scandal above... or it could be him committing the crime, and the cousin is the business partner of the girl's father... both called Thomas Wade. My ancestor does seem to be called Thomas Henry though, as per his most likely funeral notice....

Marriage of the sister mentioned in the above death notice??

PURCELL Peter
WADE Mary A

Sue

Thank you Sue,

I was about to start hunting for who these Purcells are! I thought Thomas must have a sister who married a Purcell, and Mr & Mrs Purcell are offspring... or a Wade brother who's daughter married a Purcell... looks like a sister by the year.

Hmm, what's with the two Henry Thomases born within 5 years? It seems by those dates it would've been the second one b. 1880 who's grave it is, if he was 49 at death in 1929... but that is also the same year of the funeral notice that includes Mr & Mrs Waller, which would indicate that's the correct Thomas Wade...  ???

Well actually, if Mary A is Thomas's sister, and marries a Peter Purcell, they must have had children, one of whom would be the son P. H. Purcell & his wife, for Thomas to be an uncle to this couple in 1929.

There are several Purcell children born to a Peter & Mary A in Sydney, two of whom are Peter H and Patrick J. I then found marriage indices for Patricks and Peters, so it could be any or none of these... Would need certificates to know more... but it's another line of inquiry!

WADE.—The Relatives and Friends of Mr. and Mrs.
WALLER and Mr. and Mrs. P. H. PURCELL are
kindly invited to attend the Funeral of their beloved
FATHER and UNCLE, Thomas Henry Wade

Is Thomas Henry WADE father to WALLER....and also of PURCELL....then uncle to  WALLER and/or PURCELL children....

Is Thomas Henry WAGE  father to WALLER...uncle to WALLER children....and uncle to the PURCELLs....Mr or Mrs PURCELL?

My take on the death notice relationships

Mrs WALLER is Thomas Wade's daughter.
P H PURCELL is the married son of Mary A WADE and Peter PURCELL whose marriage I have given above.

Possibly the birth of Peter PURCELL Jnr

Peter H Purcell
1902/9197
Father  Peter Purcell
Mother Mary A
Sydney

Yes, it does pay to keep an open mind, but that seems the most likely scenario to me too...

Not quite sure I understand what you're asking?

Olive V Wade whose father was Thomas Wade, was his only child, brought up by her grandparents (HIS parents apparently, rather than her mother's, or so the family story goes).
She married Robert Waller, and their 3 Waller children were born between 1921-1925, so the Mr & Mrs Waller here must have been Olive and Robert, to whom Thomas was 'father'.

He can't have also been father to any Purcells, as he had no other daughters. So he must have been 'Uncle' to the Purcells mentioned here. So either he had a brother we don't know about who had a daughter who married a Purcell, or a sister who married a Purcell and had Purcell sons (which going by the very limited evidence we have here, seems the more likely scenario, but you never know).

Or have I missed something in what you're trying to say?
