isaac Baverstock/beaverstock
« on: Thursday 30 June 22 11:47 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

I would appreciate any help with a family tree mystery in association to isaac baverstock, his son being John Baverstock who eventually marries Elizabeth Simmonds of Radstock. Later they move to south wales (possibly due to coal industry).

I am desperate to pinpoint Isaac Baverstock's parents and siblings (dob: 1804-1811). I am not sure whether he was given a baptism, was a bastard child or one parent remarried.

I have seen potential links of Newport Monmouthshire, Bristol and Isle of Wight - due to various relatives being in the brewing industry, early investment in GWR and being in the navy. I have no idea how to solve this frustrating puzzle, any support will mean so much. Thank you

I see the marriage of John and Elizabeth was in Radstock, Somerset 25 December 1858 - father named as Isaac as you mentioned.  What information does the census give for Johns place of birth and where do you have him on the census

Presumably he is the John age 12 in 1851 with father Isaac (age 49) plus Hannah (Coleman) who Isaac married in Trowbridge as a widower 7th May 1819.  This family are in Hinton Charterhouse

Hi,

I think that the Isaac Baverstock baptised 1803 at Shalbourne would be too young to have married in 1819. I think he Isaac married Sarah BRIANT on the 20 Oct 1827 in Shalbourn.

The Isaac BEAVERSTOCK living in Somerset has children with mmn WESTON so this looks like his marriage,

17 Oct 1831, Wellow, Somerset
By Banns
Isaac BEVERSTOCK
Bachelor OTP
Hannah WESTON
Spinster  OTP
Witnesses: Joseph FRANCIS, Hannah EDWARDS

It doesn't help find his baptism though.

Regards,
Daisy

Hi Daisy, Thank you for your assistance and determination to provide a solution. I have no additional information past my great great grandparents of John Beaverstock/Baverstock and Elizabeth Simmonds. Isaac's baptism/background seems to be mystery, unfortunately I can only determine that John came to Wales, Pontypool (1881 census). Again thank you very much. Sian
