Just had a look on the 1921 census for Laura WOODING in Leominster.

There's a Sirrell G WOODING (age 9 ) ::) ::) with her as well as an Albert G WOODING age 1.

There's hope!!!

Maureen

Good Morning!

I have had both of my father's marriage certificates back now. His first marriage in 1938 states his father's name as Albert George Wooding.
His second marriage to my Mum in 1958 states his father's name as Frank!!
So which do I believe! I can find both on Find My Past but nothing to pin down any connection to him.
Any help would be much appreciated  :D

Referring back to Maureen’s 1921 find I would say that he has given his brother’s name as his fatner’s name when asked to provide one. It is very common for fathers to be invented.  ;D
I would also say that giving a different name for his father at the second marriage is proof he did not know his father’s name.

Who were the witnesses on the first marriage?

Added, and I cannot quite remember the details now, but wasn’t Albert The name of Laura’s brother?

The witnesses at the first marriage were James and Ethel Presdee which I have seen this name before in my research.
That was my thought too that he put his brothers name on the one. One one census 1921 his name is spelt different too. It's spelt Sirrell.   :-\

Did you buy the 1921 entry?
What are the full details on it?
