CLARKE
« on: Tuesday 05 July 22 00:42 BST (UK) »
Please can anyone help with William Robert CLARKE or just Robert.
He was, according to his son's marriage notice, born in Pickmere.
He died in New Zealand in 1912. This put his birth c 1833.
He married (1863) in New Zealand to Georgina HATTON. But I am wondering if he was a widow and had married in England, lost his wife then came out to New Zealand.

On what basis are you wondering that?

Sorry, I didnt ask a question did I?
What parish would I look for a baptism/birth?
Also what area would I look for him in the 1841 census?

Was his son born in England or New Zealand ?

When did William Robert Clarke emmigrate?

ADDED

When he married 1863 who did he say was his father?

What name did he give his son?

There are 15 or more William Clarke's in Cheshire 1841

That marriage is too early for parents to be named.
But are they on his death certificate? (If anyone knew of course)

Added, Son’s name also William Robert

What is the Melbourne connection?

I'm confused

You say William Robert Clarke (1833) senior came to New Zealand and married 1863 died 1912

Yet his son's marriage 1889 says his father is of Pickmere Cheshire, surely if he were living in New Zealand it would say where he was living in NZ  or say formerly of Pickmere Cheshire

I presume this is the Robert Clarke who died 1912

https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/BH19121128.2.37?end_date=01-12-1912&items_per_page=10&query=Clarke+Robert+&snippet=true&start_date=19-11-1912

I agree, that marriage notice does make it seem William Robert senior is still in Pickmere.
But I presume the actual marriage cert has juniors parents named and you have them in NZ?
Also odd there is no mention of family in the obit notice.

Can you please post the details (all of them) from the certificates.

William Roberts birth?
1866/27326   Clarke   William Robert   Georgina   Robert

Is that certificate at all helpful?
