Help deciphering an Indian word
« on: Thursday 07 July 22 07:23 BST (UK) »
EDIT (because I can't figure out how to delete the post): after staring at this for near on two years, I've realised it says "Gharry". Nevermind!!

Hi there, this is from a list of expenses incurred by my great-great-grandfather on his tour to India in 1895-6. I'm curious to know, what on earth is an "Ebarry"? (Third line from top and further down.) For some reason because he hired it, I picture a Tuk-Tuk, but no idea why. Any ideas?

Regards,
Ruth
