Robert Rawlins WEBB
« on: Tuesday 12 July 22 02:05 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone
I am trying to find out a bit more information on the above who maybe my convict ancestor per "MIDAS"

He maybe the son of Elizabeth RAWLINS and Robert WEBB (illegitimate??) baptised Dibden, 21 March 1802.

Robert (Rawlins?) WEBB married Martha KILLFORD in 1823, Hampshire.

One ROBERT WEBB Tried: 10 Jan 1826; Tried at Southampton, Trial Sentence: 7 years; Embarked from: England; ENG; Ship of arrival: Midas (2), 15 Feb 1827.

I would also like to find out more on a settlement examination/ certificate please.  Apparently Robert (38) hired himself to a Mr Wyatt of Eling in December 1809!.

Would this be available online or the Hampshire Record Office.  Would like to know what this certificate means.  Many thanks I have not looked at the census for Robert or Elizabeth (nee Rawlins) as yet.  Kind regards Dianna

Hi osprey
Thanks for those details.  Also there were at least two children born to Elizabeth RAWLINS before she married Robert Webb.  My ancestor Robert Rawlins Webb (1802?) and I think his brother Henry??

Also there may have been a second marriage for Elizabeth WEBB (Rawlins) to a JOHN LEACH in 1834 in Ealing, she was a Widow.  Thanks for your input.  Looks good to me!! Regards Dianna

baptisms Dibden
21 March 1802 Robert Webb, baseborn son of Elizabeth Rawlins

16 Sept 1804 Henry, baseborn son of Elizabeth Rawlins

The remarriage to John Leach looks very possible. This could be Elizabeth in 1841

the children were baptised to Joseph Rogers and Elizabeth/Betsy Webb who weren't married and are noted as illegitimate son and daughter on the 1851 census.  Elizabeth born 1811 to Robert & Elizabeth the likely mother? Amelia Webb is on the same census page.
Death reg Elizabeth Webb 28 march qtr 1839 New Forest vol 8 pg 132.
