Thanks Top-of-the-hill, thanks hanes teulu  :)

Very much appreciate the time given.

I'll eventually find the location and probably when least expected.  ;D

But I did manage to find another notice for the same piece of land, 6 to 12 months later.
This time the area is referred to as Pyson without the s... and George Norton isn't mentioned

The article says "it has a good prospect of the Downs", which I figure means distant views along the coast toward Sandwich and Deal.

The Kentish Post – 16 May 1747

The Downs may more probably relate to the area of the English Channel mentioned in this article.

Halsted in his 1797 "The History and topographical Survey of Kent; ..." (Vol 10), refers to "Pyfing Hamlet in St Laurence, 397". Pages 397-406 cover St Laurence and the Hundred of Ringslow.

Pyfing* (note the long "s") is the closest I can find to "Pyson/s" in that locale. You can find Halsted's description of St Laurence at British History Online  under "Pysing" (modern "s").

There's an antique map (1778-1801) for sale on line of the Hundred of Ringslow showing " ... numerous villages, farms and hamlets"

Some old maps here - but not in the detail required. I think it includes the Hundred of Ringslow map (free!) mentioned earlier -

Just a note - the author of the Kent history mentioned is Hasted, not Halsted.

Thank you hanes teulu  :)

Interesting entries in The History and topographical Survey of Kent. It's hard to say if Pysing and Pyson were the same. but using a different spelling.

Although a few of the other entries in the History and topographical Survey were able to used in other research. Such as Captain Martin Long who was the uncle to Reverend William Abbot so happens to in that same entry with the Pysing property.

Whether "Pyson" is a variation of "Pysing" is the million dollar question.
There's a "Little Pysing" near Dover - known also as "Little Pising".

A Martin Long was buried 13 May 1751, St Lawrence in Thanet.. Did he purchase "Pyson" up for sale in Oct 1746?
