I did read that ages ago but my famly deaths occurred elsewhere sono certs.
Did you see it says if you cannot find a person on 1939 thenlook in reception area for some counties.
Aalso the NHS don' know my maiden name.
I was already married when i first encountered the NHS.

Are you looking at FindMyPast, or Ancestry?

FindMyPast update their database every month, I believe.
Ancestry update theirs once per year!

If the Op has the 1939 census details for the parents and there  are others  at same address but with black lines through then one of those might be the boy born 1937.
If so and ifhe is now deceased then the OP  can get a death cert and get the entry opened.

If the parents are alone in Southampton and there isno one else there then its  going to be a long search.

Hi Thanks for the replys very much appreciated have now gone back to the record and underneath his mothers name is the black line and below that are two identical letters that match with his surname. so maybe him. We learn something everyday good old rootschat lnr
