Albert MAGGS- Northam- WW1
« on: Thursday 21 July 22 17:26 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the burial place of ALBERT MAGGS, Royal Engineers,(Inland Waterways) who died on 8 Aug 1919.  He lived with his wife Alice at Castle Street, Northam, Bideford and his name appears on the Northam War Memorial?
Does anyone know where Albert Maggs is buried? Information sought by the In From the Cold Project.
Any information gratefully received.

Is he perhaps the Sapper Albert George Maggs who died at sea (SS Malwa troopship) on 9 August 1919 aged 39?

Seems likely to be the Sapper Albert George Thomas Maggs WR/553577 (age 37) commemorated by CWGC at Brookwood.

EDIT yes it's the same man. Confirmed by the register of soldiers effects.

So very likely that he was buried at sea.
