I've located some additional records.  Mary Montague was described on her death cert as 'widow of servant'.  On her son Bernard's death cert he was described as a bachelor.  Neither pieces if information is helpful at this stage.
St Anne's appears to have been the nearest Anglican church to the Malone townlands and certainly was to California Street.  The fact that Margaret & Samuel Wright bpt their children at St Anne's leads suggests that the Montagues were Anglican.  Samuel's family (he came from Sunderland) were strongly non-conformist and he and his siblings were bpt in a Presbyterian Church.
I contacted St Anne's in 2014 and they kindly provided details of the marriage and bpts of the children.  Regrettably they could not locate a bpt for Margaret.

Thank you Jon, I have all the details for the family in Sunderland.  Incidentally, although not relevant to this enquiry, I think an error was made in registering one of the twins as Montague.  He was known as William all his life!

Perhaps one of Margaret's sons was named after her father.
Though, if so, which one!

IF they were using a naming pattern, Margaret's father could have been Samuel - mind you that son could have been named after the father.  The children's names, in order, were Mary Ann, Joseph (Samuel's father's name), Samuel, John, Montague/William and Philip.  I have tried searching those names for Mary's husband but found nothing conclusive. Only the John in the Griffiths valuation but as he wasn't with a wife Mary it can't be shown he was related.

In the Valuation books dated 27 Oct 1835, there was a Widow Montague at Paper Mill Lane, Lower Malone townland.

That could be promising!  Where did you find the record? I've searched PRONI as well as Ancestry and FindMyPast without success.

A likely red herring, but one for consideration given Margaret's birth year of 1808, albeit requiring more research to rule out (or, despite being a very longshot, in):

On Mary's death she was described as widow of a servant. It was not unheard of for servants (possibly their families too if married - although I realise many servants were single), to travel/move with the household they served or to another household recommended to them. In the Diocesan & Prerogative Marriage Licence Bonds, there was an 1807 entry for a Bernard Montague and Mary Novells in Cloynes diocese, County Cork. Yes, a long distance away from Belfast. I don't have time at moment to see if anything further appears to suggest that couple remained in Cork area, but perhaps you can look.

Also, from the same records, a few years before Margaret's marriage in the Diocese of Down, Connor and Dromore in 1835, there were two other Montague marriages in Down, Connor & Dromore:

Bridget Montague to Joseph Beckett in 1832
John Montague to Anne Cooke in 1831

Have you looked further at either group in case of links?
