Henry LEE death St George in the EASt Workhouse 16/3/1862
« on: Saturday 23 July 22 22:16 BST (UK) »
I  have been looking for more admission /  discharge info  on this HENRY LEE   who died in the St George in the East   Workhouse .

I   was hoping he is the Father   of  my  convict    -  HENRY LEE born 1803 Spitalfields  (   birth ref Convict record who was sent to NSW in 1821 on the Grenada  and he died in  Little River Australia in 1862 .

If this  Henry Lee Snr   is the correct  Henry   LEE  his wife should be Mary maiden name unknown .

When Henry Lee Jnr died in Australia  in 1862 his  Aust   death cert named his Father as Henry  ( Occ-    Waggoner)    and Mother as Mary  unknown m/name

While researching convict HENRY LEE Jnr   another brother turned up named JOHN LEE who was identified as his brother  by the Colonial Secretary  letters    who  sent Henry Jnr a  letter telling him his brother   John  in   also in Aust  had written him a letter.

Brother  John LEE  born 1804  London ( birth  ref - convict record)   had arrived 1819 also on the  convict ship   GRENADA .

I   am hoping to identify their Father   as  i cant find  either of the boys Baptisms   that   i can prove    are them  and trying    to get more info on the family

I have one list that wont post that is just a list of   names  with his age and no more   inf at all .

The Henry Lee who died in 1862 was age 74 if that helps at all.

So would he have been old enough to have sons in 1803/1804  :-\

The Henry Lee who died in the WH was 74 so born around 1789

If your convict Henry Lee was b 1803 - Henry snr would only have been 14yrs old

1861 census
St George in the East workhouse.
Pauper inmates recorded by order of first letter of surnames

The A's start piece 281 folio 197 page 1.
We get as far as the F surnames on page 12.

The rest of it seems to be missing, it is on ancestry anyway.
Maybe Henry Lee missing too!

"Henry & John appeared together in court"

Who is John?

If Henry Lee - convict - died 1862 - so did Henry born 1789

Criminal register entry show Henry Lee 15 & John Lee 16 appearing in court in 1819 for larceny.  If they were brothers it makes it most unlikely that the Henry Lee who died 1862 in the WH was their father.

As previously stated - his birthyear was approx 1789 so any "wife" would have been the same age or even younger
