As I said earlier info on d/c's is only as good as the informants knowledge.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

EDIT I see William Laws  1890 M/C Cert has Mother as Mary Billings also so I can see the problem

Daughter Elizabeth (1817) married ? Allen  died Michigan USA age 81 on 16 November 1897

Parents
William Gunton and Mary Hart

Born England - widow married at age 18 had 7 children 2 living

There is a lot of information on overseas death certificates

There is a William L Gunton married Michigan 10 July 1905 he is 72 gives his parents as William Gunton and Mary Billings!

Hi Amanda,

Yes, from my search Elizabeth did marry an Allen.  ( I am comfortable with the fact that Mary Hart is her mother).

It doesn't shed any light on the others who could be half siblings.

I cannot find any death so far for a Mary Gunton (Hart) for William to be widowed with what appears to be his second wife.

William L (Laws) Gunton is one of the suspected children whose mother is Mary Billings.

Thank you for this info as we hopefully get closer to solving the mystery.

Son John stayed in Norfolk married Mary Groom 1841 he died 10 November 1866  Re: probate

He was of Wiggenhall St. Mary Magdalen probate to the widow Mary 1868

I think she got the date wrong his death is recorded December Quarter 1865 registered
 Downham age 44

You have son Henry 1824 died 1864 ?

There is a Henry Gunton buried 22 April 1825 infant at Wiggenhall

I have all the details of that.

I had wondered if Mary Hart died in childbirth with Elizabeth.

Maybe she simply divorced.
