I cannot tell which Charles Cooper in Essex is which. There are a Gazillion of them.

You might have to buy his birth certificate to get an actual date of birth, then you might be able to find him on the 1939 register.

Sarah Matilda was a witness to the Holden/Cooper marriage in 1909

Can be found easily working in 1901 & 1911

I think this is her death

Deaths Dec 1982   (>99%)
KING    SARAH MIRIAM M    27JY1886    BRAINTREE    9   1434

Using that information you can find her marriage  and 1939 entry.

Sorry I don't know is I understand what all that means ???

does this mean
Sarah Matilda Miriam Cooper died Dec 1982?
She was born 27 July 1886?
married last name king?
Braintree St Michael Essex parish?

There is a potential marriage for Sarah Miriam Matilda COOPER in 1915 Hendon Middlesex to Sidney G. KING.
She was a widow by 1939 living in Halstead
Sarah Miriam M. KING death 1982 Braintree, Essex. (birth 27 July 1886)

I agree with this - had found it myself just before sleep overcame me!

Can't see a likely entry for her using just the search facility for 1921 census so don't know if she had any children.  Or perhaps her husband was killed in WW1.

Confusingly there's a Sydney George King in Halstead, with wife born 1886 called Martha, but they're clearly married before 1914, so a different chap!

GRO Online Indexes web site I found this

   Name:                   Mother's Maiden Surname:
   COOPER, CHARLES       WINCH
GRO Reference: 1884  S Quarter in HALSTEAD  Volume 04A  Page 527

I think this is the right Charles cooper born in 1884 not "about 1885" which I had him listed as being born.

I don't know if that is any help or people have already seen this.

Benjamin Cooper born October ?? 1882 / 83 in Halstead, Essex, England. died ??? married ??? kids??? I have nothing of him after 1911 census where he was living with his parents in Ridgewell.
I found a bunch of people with the same name and can't figure out which is the right person.
Benjamin COOPER born 2 Apr 1882 – he never married.
In the late 1930s, he is an inmate (‘incapacitated) in a hospital in Saffron Waldon, Essex.

The Benjamin Cooper born 2/4/1882 is not the Benjamin in question here.   'Your' Benjamin Cooper's birth was reg'd in the Dec.qtr.1882 Halstead so birth would have been in the Sept.-Dec.part of the year.

In 1921 free index search there is a Benjamin Cooper shown born 1882 Essex (living in Haverhill, Suffolk) and in that year there was only the one Benjamin Cooper born in Essex.

Further investigation shows he was born 9/10/1882 (which fits with Dec.qtr.birth registration) - in 1911 he was an Engine Driver, an occupation he seemed to continue.

He married an Ellen Skilton in the Mar.qtr.1913 Risbridge, Suffolk (which covered Haverhill) and they appear to have had just one son - William born 27/7/1914 Haverhill.

Benjamin Cooper of 30 Eden Road, Haverhill died 19/10/1964 in Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge.  Administration of his estate was to William Cooper (his son).  (death registration in Dec.1964 Cambridge).

As to Charles - he too was an Engine Driver.  Cannot trace after 1911.  Doesn't show in 1921 index search, nor 1939 register.   Seems to vanish between 1911-1921 - perhaps a casualty of WW1.
