Barking Dog Walk Hoxton
« on: Thursday 04 August 22 06:59 BST (UK) »
Thomas Dyson was baptised at St Leonard Shoreditch in 1781. His parents address was given as the Barking Dog Walk. I'm guessing this was Hoxton as all the other family baptisms give Hoxton addresses.   His 2 elder siblings were born at St Agnes Le Clere and Queen st. Later siblings were born at Bowling Green Walk.

Guessing the Barking Dog was a pub?

Any ideas?

Thanks

A few mentions of Barking Dog Walk in newspapers including this snip which also mentions the Barking Dogs, so I assume the Walk was named for the hotel.

This snip from :
   January 14, 1752 - January 16, 1752
Publication: London Evening Post

Another describes Barking Dog Walk as "near Windmill Hill".
"The proceedings on the King's commissions of the peace, oyer and terminer, and gaol delivery for the city of London; and also the gaol delivery for the county of Middlesex, held at Justice-Hall in the Old-Bailey, on Wednesday the 4th, Thursday the 5th, Friday the 6th, and Saturday the 7th of December. In the 25th year of His Majesty's reign. Being the first session in the mayoralty of Right Honble Thomas Winterbottom, Esq; lord-mayor of the city of London. Number I" 1751

C To compel Samuel Coulston, formerly of Windmill-Hill , and late of Tabernacle Walk, otherwise Barking Dog Walk, near Hoxton, in the county of Middlesex, bookseller, now a prisoner in the Poultry Compter to make a schedule of estate and effects, as an insolvent debtor. Witness my hand this 25th day of September 1761. Benjamin Thorley (LG 26 Sep 1761)
