Just an observation: Another family whose surname kept varying in the records over time. I have 51 Panter and 32 Panther individuals - most in Noprthamptonshire.

Derby: Naylor, Ball, Haywood
Buckinghamshire: Cook
London: Craxford, Lane Crauford
Tyneside: Nessworthy, Simpson

Apologies, I didn't mean to ignore your last post regarding the Underwoods.  This is not my tree; I'm researching a friend's tree.  It has proved to be very interesting so far, though!
