Dorothy Rounsevell circa 1750 - possible Ottery St Mary
« on: Monday 08 August 22 16:14 BST (UK) »
Good afternoon everyone,

I guess this is a lookup request of sorts but not entirely sure where it belongs.

I'm looking for a baptism record for my 6xgg Dorothy Rounsevell. Married John Palmer, Woodbury 1773 and died in Woodbury 1815. There is a Dorothy Rownsevall born in Crantock in 1750 but also a marriage for the same name at Colan near Newquay in the 1770s, so I feel like this is unlikely to be my one.

Having looked around a bit more there is a Rounsevell family living around Ottery St Mary in the 1750s but I can't find a baptism record for Dorothy. This seems like a good bet and there's a lot of spelling variants that could interfere with the digitisation so if anyone has access to the parish registers around that time I'd be very appreciative.

Best wishes
Samuel

Thank you. That would be Lympstone. Only Dorothy I can find from there around the same time is Dorothy Osment sadly

Thank you. That would be Lympstone.

Image of banns and marriage both have Lympston  :). I have reported transcription errors on FindMyPast (Lumpston & Sympston)

Hi
The banns were also called at Lympstone where she is now Sarah Rounsevell.
Their children are christened at the Presbyterian chapel so were are dealing with Non conformists and the christening if took place at all may be further afield or not survived.

Thank you for all this. Sadly I can't find anything for a Sarah Rounsevell either so looks like this will have to remain a dead-end for now.
