Cleasby
« on: Thursday 11 August 22 07:12 BST (UK) »
I am doing a tree for a friend.

Her GGF Albert Edward Cleasby was born in South Africa, according to UK 1901 and 1911 censuses.
Year of birth given as 1868.

Does any SA experts have any clues, please?

There's nothing showing on Family Search in South Africa (my "go to" place for such records).

He's also on the 1891 census, living with wife and child in Gorton - RG12/3174 folio 47, page 40.

Have you his marriage details from 1890 when he married Emma Ann Sidebottom in Chorlton. Should as you will well know detail his father and father's occupation.

Believe his parents could be James and Charlotte Reed.

Marriages Mar 1860
Bolton    Sarah        Salford    8d   51
Cleasby    James        Salford    8d   51
Mansley    Thomas        Salford    8d   51

By 1881 appears Charlotte has died

Possible siblings all born South Africa.

Elizabeth Ann's baptism from Family Search (if you can't access Ancestry worldwide)!

Also - William - 1874, James - 1866 and Evelyn - 1870 - all PMB.

ADDED:

Plus Robert Samuel - 1864 - Bloemfontein

Albert C Cleasby c1867 born South Africa on 1921 census. A real mixture of family with him, but no wife Emma, she appears in Edale, with son Albert(1905)
