Harefield and/or Harvill ?
« on: Thursday 11 August 22 19:44 BST (UK) »
Hello Rootchat Peeps

Does anyone know if Harefield was referred to as Harvil(l) in the 15th / 16th centuries?
Are they two different places? If so, where please?

Thanks

I'm not sure if this will help any but according to Wikipedia Harefield was known as Herefelle in the Doomsday Book & British History on Line for Harefield has mention of a Harvill Road in existence before 1813. Perhaps that is where the area of Harvill comes from.!

A Possibility is that Harvill may have been Haverhill in Suffolk

This place was referred to as Havril or variants in earlier times.

There is at least one Harville in France https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harville. Similar but different names often get confused by clerks so you need more to separate them for sure.
