In reply #3, on marriage details, Annie Elizabeth said her father was William. I think this information comes from an on - line tree on Ancestry. The tree owner seems to be a direct descendant of Charles and Annie and must have purchased the marriage certificate to get this amount of detail, (or possibly the cert has been handed down in the family).
One witness is Ellen A Walker, might be worth trying to find her in 1901 and 1911
Berks / Oxon: Eltham, Annetts, Wiltshire (surname not county), Hawkins, Pembroke, Partridge
Dorset / Hants: Derham, Stride, Purkiss, Sibley
Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge
Sussex: Goodyer, Christopher, Trevatt
Lanark: Scott (soldier went to Jersey CI)
Jersey: Fowler, Huelin, Scott

LizzieL.

thank you,

yes We have the marriage certificate,  she and Charles had a habit , like lots of people saying different dates for their births, census etc, and it threw us when she said born in Somerset  ;D

and looking for Ellen A Walker, is a bit of a nightmare, could be sister ? or Sister-in-law.

round and round I go  ;D

From GRO. Charles Croft, birth reg'd D quarter, 1886, Grantham, MMN Woods.
Don't know where the Henry came from. He had an older brother, Henry. on 1891 census.

Father Charles married Pheobe Wood, Sleaford, 1883

With no MMN on the GRO, it is likely that she was illegitimate. Her birth record in PDF is available for 7 quid which should give you her mother's name at least.

I think this may be her in 1901 census as a domestic servant for Unwin's

The same Annie Elizabeth is on 1891 census with father, William but the Tree has a different marriage for her.
