Roy William Richard Taylor
« on: Monday 15 August 22 06:18 BST (UK) »
Good day

I am trying to find out more details regarding my Grandfather, Roy William Richard Taylor.  He was 38 years old when he married my Grandmother, Florence Mary Hill (Benn) nιe Ashley, who was then aged 39.  This occurred on 19 November 1949 at Gravesend.  His father was Robert William Taylor.

I would like to know more about his military record, number, medals, etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Braam Bosman

Service records for personnel serving after 1920 are still with the MOD.

To apply see: https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records
There is a fee of £30, you'll need a copy of his death certificate, and there is a long wait.

Thank you for the speedy reply.  I guess it is a bit difficult to do all of that from here in South Africa.  I don't have a death certificate or other items, unfortunately.  Thanks again.

There is a tree on Ancestry but very little info apart from what you already know.  Here’s the link if you have Ancestry access

https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/110815583/person/390083695683/facts?_phsrc=IoT1&_phstart=successSource

The tree owner may know which force he served with during WW2 - unless you already have that info

Interesting.  So either she (Joan Beatrice Courves) passed on or they divorced.  Thank you for the information.
