My Jeremiah married in Mar of 1852 in Tasmania and unfortunately parents weren’t listed in Tassie marriage records until the late 1890s.

The genealogist has confused the Warwickshire man with the Somerset man

as stated before the Warwickshire Jeremiah was transported 24 February 1840 having been convicted in 1839

1841 Widcombe Somerset
Jeremy Howell 16 living with several others in the house of Ann Langdon
----------

2 January 1837 Samuel Howell convicted of larceny got 1 month and whipped age 16

This is possibly the illegitimate son of Elizabeth Howell bap 8 May 1825 at Widcombe with a notation born 1 September 1817

ADDED
Taunton Courier and Western Advertiser dated 11 January 1837
Samuel Howell convicted of stealing a pair of trousers.....

There are a couple of small mentions of both Jeremiah Hovells in the Tasmanian newspapers:

Do you have details of your Jeremiah’s ticket of leave? (His name is mentioned in one of the articles as having received one)

I had another look at Jeremiah’s convict ident and I missed that it also mentions another brother, it looks like John or James.
Not sure why parents not mentioned, could be they were deceased or that he was not aware of who his parents were.

It does name two brothers, Samuel and Edward but I haven’t had too much luck.

There are three brothers named, the middle one is either Jas (James) or Jno (John).

This particular forum section does not allow attachments so if anyone else wants to have a look....

Sorry, missed your previous post.  Usually if parents were not named then they were deceased, but this can't be relied upon.
