Hello, I am just starting - does anyone have any information about Hewson Atkinson. It is an unusual name, he is associated with Carlisle and Penrith.

Rather than asking what does anyone here know, start by stating what you ALREADY know, and ask what can be added.

At the moment,  no-one has any idea of date/ age , whether he wed, whether he had siblings,  whether he had kids.

Hewson Atkinson married Rachel Sloan March qtr 1854 Carlisle 10B 446. www.freebmd.org.uk

Is this your Hewson Atkinson?  Did you already have that info?  Unless we know exactly what you already have & what you need help with - we could waste a lot of time duplicating info

Below is the 1861 census entry.  Ancestry have it correctly transcribed as Hewson but FamilySearch have it incorrectly transcribed as  Hanson

Son Robert was Robert Losh Atkinson & Andrew was Andrew Slone Atkinson.  Andrew died 1922 Middlesex as Andrew Sloan Atkinson.  Robert died 25.12.1908 Carlisle

A number of trees on Ancestry.co.uk have details fo Hewson (1831-1904) and his son, Hewson (1870-1961), who died in Birkenhead.

Hewson Atkinson married Elizabeth Clarke 1868 Carlisle.  First wife Rachel died 1867 aged 36

The origins of his name from one of the trees:-

Hewson Spikings Atkinson was baptised on 1st March 1832 in Hayton, Cumberland, son of Robert and Catherine.

Robert Atkinson married Catherine Spikings on 30th October 1812 in Tetford, Lincolnshire,

Catherine, baptised on 27th September 1789 in Tetford, was the daughter of Robert Spiking (1743-1823) and Catherine Hewson (1748-1814)
