Photo Dating - Bond family, Manchester
« on: Wednesday 24 August 22 10:57 BST (UK) »
Hi all, sorry for the very poor quality photo. It was taped back together a long time ago. There is some mystery as to whether this woman is my 2x great grandmother (b1896 married 1913) or my 3x great grandmother (b1863 married 1883).

Could anyone help date this photo to narrow down which one it may be? It was on the back of a blank postcard.

Taken in Salford most likely.

I’ll also attach a photo I have of the 2x great grandmother taken circa 1910. I’m not convinced these women are the same person.

Thanks,
Ali

Sorry, I can't help with a date; just moving it up the board so it might be seen by those who can.

Unable to make much detail out in the first photo, but judging by the small child's dress, I would say 1890s to the very early years of the 20th c.
It looks like the sort of outfit a small boy would be dressed in, until he was 'breeched', all around the age of four.

Thank you all for chipping in. I know how tricky it is to date such a poor quality photo. I know for sure the second photo was taken in the 1910s.

Do you think these women are the same person or not?

Thanks a bunch,
Ali

I think the torn photograph is the 3x great.  She looks definitely older than the woman in the 1910 photo. By the time the 2x was that sort of age Fashion would have been a lot different.   But that is just my thoughts.
