  And poor old grandma usually ended up looking after the child!
     I haven't found James after 1851; I wonder if another member of the family took him to Australia? His mother stayed in England, unmarried, and lived for many years with other unmarried siblings. She died in Hythe in 1896. Information from censuses.

Don’t know how he got here, I’ve been able to link a few things now. Sister/s of Mary got married, it’s interesting that’s for sure.
